How much does it cost?
Close Reader is free while it’s in beta; AI features have a daily limit. Paid plans with more AI may come later — you’ll always see the price in the app before you pay for anything.
Which books can I read?
Your own EPUB, FB2, MOBI, AZW3, PDF and TXT files without DRM. The book can be in any language.
What does the AI see of my book?
Only the text up to where you are — unless you switch to “Whole book” yourself. In no-spoilers mode we don’t even send the title or the author. Details are in the Privacy Policy.
Where are my books stored?
On your device. If you sign in, the files sync through private storage that only your account can access. You can delete your account and all cloud data in Settings.
Do I need an internet connection?
Not for reading. Yes for translations, explanations and chat.
